I shipped one in heavily wrapped bubble wrap and it was less than $5.00..

I am looking for more ideas, if you're willing . . .
I use bubble wrap with some crumpled newspaper and a small that'll fit it.
I go through USPS because, unless it's a big item, Fed Ex and UPS are more expensive
