It is 18k gold plated. It will last a while but since it's not solid gold eventually it will turn your finger. I have had mine now for over 6 months and so far it hasn't turned in any way shape or form. It is really high quality costume jewelry and when taken care of it will last for quite some time, but not forever unfortunately. It is a beautiful ring and I have thoroughly enjoyed it!
