Description

The listing, Two Trojan Condoms has ended.

It's only fitting that they're named Trojans since the first practical condom was used by the ancient Romans to battle pregnancy during the constant public orgies, although the first ever friction method used was in biblical times, and leather condoms byTutankhamen in ancient Egypt.

How seriously do you take the risk of contracting STD’s (sexually transmitted diseases)? Safe sex is the byword in modern relationships, since the advent of AIDS, but it is hardly something new.
Contraception was even mentioned in the Bible. In the Book of Genesis (38:9), Onan practices coitus interruptus: "And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother."
In the bible, yet it's almost comedic, wouldn't you say?

although i think the best way to prevent disease is through abstenence and obeying the laws of chastity. If both partners do there is no need for these!

I know JC said in the red letters that 'it is good not to touch a woman", but I don't think they had bipolar nymphomania in those days.
For those who suffer, it can be a worse disorder than scizophrenia; even for married couples who are faithful, condoms can prevent unwanted pregnancies, except for devout Catholics who are forbidden to use any form of contraception. Lucky for me, I'm a recovering Roman Catholic, and just in time with seven daughters and four sons.

Superstitions also played a major role in trying to ward off pregnancy in the Middle Ages, but many were ineffective. Women strapped amulets containing mule's earwax, weasel's testicles and a bone taken from the right side of a totally black cat to body parts to avoid pregnancy.
"If one takes the two testicles of a weasel and wraps them up, binding them to the thigh of a woman who wears also a weasel bone on her person, she will no longer conceive."
Half of a lemon, for instance, was reportedly advocated by Casanova in the mid-1700s for use by women as a cervical cap-like device. More dangerous contraceptives included the drinking of lead and mercury by Chinese women thousands of years ago, which often led to sterility or death.

Sadly, this is a completely naive world view. There are plenty of ways to get these diseases that do not involve intercourse (like blood transfusions). Would you want your faithful partner to suffer because of something you got from a toilet at a ballpark? Did you know certain forms of cancer and diseases can be brought on by intercourse with someone with the proper genetic markers, even if they do not have that ailment themselves? It is just a bad genetics cocktail.

Of those men with one main sexual partner, two-thirds were not motivated to use condoms, and
gave little indication they would start. Also, alcohol and drug users gave the least indication they would use condoms. For many men, safety from disease does not play a central role in their decision-making about condoms, reported Grimley.
It is a sobering thought that the best way of avoiding unwanted pregnancy, which as a sideline can protect both men and women from the world’s cruellest disease, is, far too often, simply ignored. Contraception has a colourful history, yet ignoring it could make the future of humanity uncertain, in some ways. Safe sex has a whole new meaning in this modern day society, so be sure to give the idea some very serious thought.

Rates of syphilis and gonorrhea are at a 50-year low, but these rates, including chlamydia remain far higher in the U.S. than in other industrialized nations, writes Grimley. She and her colleagues focused on 224 men, all with STD symptoms, who sought treatment in a Birmingham clinic. The average age was 26, and most men were black.
The test results showed that, of these men, 80% reported that most people their age did not use condoms consistently. They also said that 61% of people their age had gonorrhea. 81% acknowledged sexual contact with two or more partners during the preceding six months. 45% reported sexual relationships that overlapped. 65% said they had been diagnosed with one or more STDs in the past.

Condom use was booming from 1920s until 60s. In 60s condoms became unpopular because of people"s relying on antibiotics and contraceptive pills. However, in 1980s people started preferring condoms again.
AIDS appeared in 1985, and you would imagine that condom use would shoot skywards, but it seems the reverse is true, for many people.
A January, 2004 study by researcher Diane M. Grimley, PhD, chair of the Department of Health Behavior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, shows that many low-income, straight men don't use condoms for disease prevention, despite knowing the risks.

Expedition of Portuguese traveler Vasco de Gama brought syphilis to India in 1498 ????, then the disease reached China in 1505. In 1499 syphilis was registered in Hungary and Russia. Even preachers had this disease: Crete"s Archbishop died of syphilis in 1506! By XVI century syphilis was the most common disease in the world. For example, in Italy up to 70 percent of adult population suffered from syphilis.
During the period of Renaissance Italian doctor and anatomist Gabriel Fallopio (some people call him Fallopius) was the first to undertake measure on preventing syphilis. He recommended for use during sex, a small flax bag soaked with antiseptic solution of herbs and non-organic salts, to protect people from venereal diseases. He said he had tested the bag on 1,110 men and none of them had been infected.

In Ancient Rome condom prototypes were applied both for decoration and for contraception to protect people from diseases. They were used more often than in Egypt, and the raw material for manufacturing contraceptive devices was more accessible. Roman legionaries made contraceptive devices of muscle tissue of enemy warriors they had killed. Ancient Rome military leaders took care of supplying their soldiers with dried cattle intestine for contraceptive devices. Animal bladders were used as condoms for women.
According to other sources, the first contraceptive device was made of leather and pharaoh Tutankhamen used it. Simultaneously the Japanese invented similar "kavagata" device of very soft leather. In 1493 Columbus with his crew returned to Barcelona from West-India, carrying a mysterious disease. By 1495 syphilis was in France, Germany and Switzerland. Two years later England and Scotland joined the list of the countries being familiar with it.

In XVIII century court circle doctor, Colonel of the Royal Army of Charles II, Earl Condom started popularising contraceptive device for preventing pregnancy. The amorous monarch was embarrassed with the big number of his heirs, and the doctor made contraceptive caps out of sheep intestine. In this way the monarch could continue pursuing his idea of family life.
Many aristocrats ordered such items from Dr Condom, and small-scale manufacturing of them was organised in England and the rest of Europe during the 17th century, though it would be another generation before they started to be widely used. In 1843, rubber vulcanisation was discovered, making it possible to produce condoms on a massive scale.

Not that the guys had it any easier when it came to their ideas on sexual protection. Legendary Minos, of ancient Crete was the first known person to invent condom. His faithlessness angered his wife Pasifaya and she bewitched him. When he was making love with a woman, the sperm he ***** turned into serpents and scorpions, which naturally killed her.
He soon started to run out of lovers, until he found a solution by placing a goat"s urinary bladder into the ***** of his next mistress. This was of success, so the woman stayed alive while Pasifaya had no idea that her husband had committed adultery. From then on sex without contraception just never happened for Minos.

Older records show that reliable methods were employed even earlier than that. According to the Ebers Papyrus (1550 BC), women were advised to grind together dates, acacia (a tree bark), and a touch of honey into a moist paste, dip seed wool into the sweet gel andinsert this into the ***** before sex.. Acacia eventually ferments into lactic acid, a well known spermicide, so this paste was very effective.
Pessaries arrived in the second century, and were made of things as diverse as elephant and crocodile dung.
The so-called block pessary, made of wood and carved with concave sides not unlike some door stops. The Victorians, according to some accounts, were especially fond of this method. It was finally condemned in the early 1930's as an instrument of torture.

I find it humorous that a two condom auction can be listed as a hot auction, but that only becomes after writing the history. more people seem to like my history lectures lately.

If I had two testicles of a weasel stuck to my thigh wrapped up or not I doubt I would be getting any action...definitely no bite of husbandry OR any lust of the sexual variety. Unless one enjoys the stinking decay of weasel balls hahahaha

I adore your quite informative auction!!! I wish all auctions were as entertaining.

i wish I had 18 kids. Heck, I would have been happy with one that was my bloodline. And I don't understand why it's so hard to adopt in America when there are so many in foster care. Maybe I'll adopt an unfortunate adult and teach him my legacy, lol.

But right after that...God wasn't happy that he "pulled out" at all! I agree with stephfreeatlast.

Ya, after Imperial Rome, during the Christian age. It was against the church to "pull out" or use protection, as you know I'm sure.
Sex isn't supposed to be fun unfortunately, it's about reproducing the population, and that's why during the time of Methuselah, people lived to be over 700 years old and begot, begot, begot, and begot. that's also why you hear about the Catholic family in the 50's having seven daughters.
