"Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand

Paperback, gently used

The astounding story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world--and did. Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, "Atlas Shrugged" is unlike any other book you have ever read. It is a mystery story, not about the murder of a man's body, but about the murder--and rebirth--of man's spirit.

With this acclaimed work and its immortal query "Who is John Galt?" Ayn Rand found the perfect artistic form to express her vision of existence. This is the book that has made her not only one of the most popular novelists of modern times, but also one of its most influential and controversial thinkers. This anniversary edition of "Atlas Shrugged," celebrating the enduring legacy of its author, features an introduction by Rand's literary executor, Leonard Peikoff, and a Reader's Guide to her writings and philosophy. This volume will be eargerly welcomed by all admirers of what Dr. Peikoff calls "Ayn Rand's masterwork."

Born Feb. 2, 1905, Ayn Rand published her first novel, "We the Living," in 1936. "Anthem" followed in 1938. It was with the publication of "The Fountainhead" (1943) and "Atlas Shrugged" (1957) that she achieved her spectacular success. Ms. Rand's unique philosophy, Objectivism, has gained a worldwide audience.

"Atlas Shrugged" has now been made into a major motion picture, in theaters now.

I've always wanted to read this., They say it's the one of the worst books ever written. I love The Fountainhead, the main character & myself have alot in common., perhaps too much :)

Who's "They"? I would expect people who disagree with Ms. Rand's vision of society probably say it's a terrible book, the last thing "they" want is more people being enlightened!

Good Luck Bidding!

Objectivists unite! Fountainhead is by far my favorite, but the people who say her books lack adequate pacing probably expect Michael Bay-esque explosions on every page and catchphrases and stuff. Good luck on auction - great book!

I couldn't have said it better myself, too much "boom" & not enough "bang" for your buck in Hollywood (I know, I work in the studios!"
