Well i believe you basicly brush/straighten at the same time, clamping the ahir between the two, pulling down and also blow drying because it has the ceramic plates which would be for heat!! I believe the bristle are to make it smooth and add shine!! I hope this helps you!! :o)

Not like one you would plug in, but i'm sure it does with having ceramic plates.. So with what heat it get from a blow dryer in my guess anyway!! :o)
