i forgot what year it was but the Mets picked up both Eddie Murray & Rafael in a trade with the Orioles mid-year.

I forget as well. They were making a push for the play-offs. They were always battling it out with the Cardinals until they realigned the divisions then Atlanta became their nemesis.
