The Galia melon or the Dessert Melon developed in Israel by the melon breeder Dr. Zvi Karchi, was named after the first name of Karchi's daughter that means "God's wave" in Hebrew.

The average weight for a galia melon is almost half a pound. They have a rounded shape, a dense netting of rough line on the skin, become yellow at full maturity, they are sweet and aromatic, with a special aroma and flavor.

They are easy to grow.

The Galia Melon is commonly refereed to as a dessert melon because of its sweet succulent flavor. Galia looks like a small cantaloupe from the outside, but have the greenish inner flesh similar to a honeydew. The flavor is sweet and intense. Incredibly succulent and tender. Juicy and sweet.
