Cherries need to be outside to experience all 4 seasons. They tolerate cold weather very well just like apples. In fact cherries in my area are grown best on the mountain where it gets cold and gets snow. Cherries and apples are 2 fruits that like cold.

So, I'm living in Kansas, harsh winters, if i left this out in the cold winter it would die correct? However i could raise it in the house with my orange tree. Thoughts?

Yes, I think that would be fine in a pot. I have two lemon trees in pots that I bring in the house for the winter. I'm trying my luck at sprouting these cherry pits myself so I'm in a learning mode. Here in VA, our winters can be harsh too but not as bad as yours! I also sprouted 2 organic orange seeds this spring so if you have any tips, that would be great! : )
