A beautiful medal of "The Pieta" that is a souvenier of the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. I went to the fair several times during those two years and have very fond memories of those visits. I purchased one of these medals for myself and received another as a gift. It comes with the box and the photo you see with the inscription is the inside cover of that box. The inside is intact but the outside has some smudges and I'm not sure it can be cleaned. The medal itself is marked New York Worlds Fair Sterling. There is something else engraved but it is wearing away and is hard to see. I'm not sure if the chain is sterling. It is not marked. The medal is small and the front with the Pieta is in very good condition. The background is textured but the image is not. There are also designed cuts that add some sparkle to the medal. It is small and measures 5/8". A lovely souvenier and a beautiful religious symbol. Thanks for looking.
