NancyBeck, some groups collect them because they eventually turn them over to a place that accepts scrap metal and those places Pay by the pound and I guess they pay better price per pound when it is pure aluminum with no coloring. This helps raise money for their group or cause. Hope that helps!

Oh that's why.. see.. originally from Oregon here where you get 5 cents per can just for turning them in.. then I moved to Georgia.. and we collect cans, but take off the tabs .. we get paid per pound.. but have more fun with the tabs :)

Ok what do people do with soda tabs? Also do they go well on listia? I've been throwing runs away not thinking they were good for anything!

Well, I know you can make bracelets... belts.. earrings.. some get carried away and make purses .. skirts.. outfits.. keychains... necklaces.. crowns.. ties.. headbands.. coasters... Christmas wreaths, Christmas ornaments.. lampshades.. bowls.. knight armor.. the list can go on~and~on and on....

I know a lot of organizations collect them, I'm not quite sure why.. but they do go really well on Listia.. and since my hubby & son drink quite a bit of energy drinks and coca~cola.. we have quite a few. I've gotten rid of over 5,000.. and still going

In Michigan we pay 10 cents deposit on each bottle and can, but get it back if we turn them back into the stores we got them from for recycling. however, they don't care if you keep the tabs on or take them off lol.

it's almost horrible.. it's 25 cents per POUND.. that's quite a few cans.. for just a quarter her where I live.. it's almost easier to throw away.. but I just can't get myself too.. cause when I lived in Oregon.. we didn't.. was raised not to..

In georgia I have a recycling can at my house but you don't get paid here. There is a program called recycle bank on the internet it is connected to in order to get some rewards.

We have to recycle in the village of Somerset Wi. We get a monthly charge for the privilege of them taking away whether we actually put anything out. We can get charged extra for NOT taking them out. So I keep my tabs because I have kinda already paid for them anyway and make items with them.
