Is this powered by the pcie port or is that white box in the upper left hand corner of the board (first picture) a power connection? If so, 6 pin, 8 pin? voltage? Minimum psu constant supply to the board?

For data transfer you don't need any power connected. If you want to use the card to charge devices you need to connect a 4pin molex to it. Sorry, not sure of the draw, but it can't be much.
