Questions & Comments
Hello.....How SMALL is a Starter Plant?? and will there be Lots of Roots on it ?? Many Thanks from Lisa also, How to you Secure it for shipping ????? wrapped in Very wet paper towels and dirt in Ziplock bag or something .. :)
a starter plant is one leaf with attached roots not so many roots yes it is wrapped in damp papertowels and in a plastic bag One great feature of the cast iron plant is it is very easy to propagate, making it a great plant to share with fellow gardeners. Simply cut out a portion of the plant that includes both leaves and roots and plant it in its own pot.
wish there was a way you could take a picture of Your Plant with out pulling it yet but using your hand against the Plant to show how much or large a starter plant is to get a Idea..... Do you have a camera.....?Is this your plant in the picture or a Stock photo...sorry about all of the questions ...lol
this is one of my plants~ a starter is usually the smallest leaf i have with a root attached for mailing purposes. the leaves are about 2 ft tall and i have to bend them over to ship so I get the smallest ones or shortest ones. they grow from the roots and multiply underground
To keep the plant looking good all the old leaves need to be clipped away and also it helps the looks of the plant if the leaves are washed occassionally. It is a very attactive plant if kept in the shade ~ it thrives on neglect.
