That kinda sucks they never plated any issue with gold the coin isn't worth much to begin with but the gold drops the value to next to nothing it's only good for display and that's about it. It's not rarely seen it's not seen from everything I know and researched on this without the gold it could have been worth an unknown amount still might bid it would be a good start piece to a collection.

Private mints buy large quantities of legitimate US coins and gold plate them, to sell to folks who like shiny stuff. Not enough gold to matter, but it doesn't change the fact that this coin still contains .3617/ounce ASW, worth around $7.45 at today's spot.
