The listing, Antique Tribal Kuchi Gillet Belly Dance Afghan Brass Ring Size 8 has ended.
Digging into my treasure trove again. This is a ring I have owned over 20 years. I have, since childhood, had a love of old antique things. This was one of my first aquisitions at the tender age of 13. I was at a fleamarket and saw it mixed in with a bunch of odds and ends. I bought it for $5. That was of course like $100 to me at the time, but I didn't care. I was told later that it is a kuchi gillet ring made by nomads of the Kuchi tribe in Afghanistan. Gilet describes the mixture of alloys that went into making it, in this case mostly brass. I was told the tool lines and press marks date this ring at over 100 years old. I have not had this information authenticated, but it sounds good...lol.
