I don't know where it's from, or who made it or why . or what it's for.And I bought it years ago (decades!!!)So I can't tell you much except I liked it enough to have it displayed for years in my China cabinet! It just has a great lot of character, Like a wonderful carved Jade bowl , it has that aged look (It's a bit less orangey than the pics) . I looks in some ways Native American in others South or Central American , but the rings add an Asian look to it.
