The listing, **Gorgeous Calladium** has ended.
Check these out! Winner gets to choose a color and I will send you one bulb. It will be ready to plant as soon as you get it because I will dig it up on the day I send it. These are shade or dappled shade plants. In northern climates they can probably take a few hours of sun a day...but here in the South I keep mine in dappled shade. They will eventually multiply and you can dig them up to start new pots or somewhere else in the yard. I never use poison on any of my plants. Thank for looking and Happy Bidding. Please check out my other auctions too! **Smoke Free Home** **Not even CLOSE to Pet Free!!**
Questions & Comments
I love these-I have dragons blood colors, need a new color
I'm going to try to put up a couple more pics from different angles to show them off a little better. I really like these plants...they grow so easy and are so pretty.
Hi Sheri---Geez girl--I was trying to do this on my tab (am on desktop now) and I not only hid your accidentally hid your comment (which I can't figure out how to bring back up)...but I accidentally flagged you! I'm so sorry ...I can't figure out how to undo it...I hope there are no repercussions...if so tell them to contact me. Geez--I can tell it's monday morning...anyway.....in answer to your question...The one on lower right is ringed in a very dark green, with a creamy white middle with blood red streaks on it. Thanks so much for asking...and I hope all is well....so sorry again about the flag!
I hope so too! Lol. I am leaning towards the white, trimmed in green or the white trimmed in green with red splotches-that would give a good contrast to my red on red & red on greens, Thanks for offering these up!
I am SO glad you took that okay! I had these up last season...but they were brand new and went dormant over winter. It was the first year I had them--so I don't know if they always do that. Anyway--they came back so nice and so many--I thought I'd share again. Thanks for checking them out. You can't really see it...but there is a VERY pale pink one (you can see your hand through the leaf), right by the fern. It wouldn't 'match' what you have...but I just wanted to point it out. Thanks again for being easy going...and for checking out my page. I appreciate it. Anne..
I did see the very pale pink with the white veins thru it-I also was liking on it alot too. Yes-These will go dormant over the winter-mulch good, then in spring they will pop up more & more and bigger & bigger. (hardy bulb perennials) And some gardeners actually will cut off the 1st biggest leaf to encourage the other leafs to become huger and multiply faster. I love these more than I love my Hostas!!
I just won my first hosta a couple months ago...this particular corner gets very little light and in the winter no light at all. The hosta loves it in there. It's already bloomed...oh great...a whole new class of plants for me to obsess over! Lol.
I love caladiums! But can I just add that they are no where near perennial in northern states. Here in Michigan (zone 5/6 and sometimes 4!) our planting time for them is spring. But geeze plant them in spring in a semi to shady spot and WOW!!! AND I save my bulbs over the winter indoors in the basement.
Hostas are perennial here and boy I love mine! They are great shade lovers!
I do envy those of you living in the southern states! You get to grow all year around! Hope you don't mind my input!
I welcome input! They are a beautiful plant...and so easy to grow. Having moved from Phoenix to South Florida I have ZERO experience with having to over-winter something. Which is exactly why I like living where I can grow year round....that plus just the thought of snow gives me goose bumps! Lol. Thanks so much for taking the time to share...I appreciate it.
Oh my didnt think of the people that have to dig up every year. Will mulching heavily keep them in the ground? And Anne-If you are into the other plants that plant once-and several come back every year, Canna & Calla lilys come in a range of colors and multiply also. I live in mostly shade (the woods) so I have to watch what I get. One I am investigating is Huechera. Or called Coral Bells, they are prized for the variety of leaf colors too. From lime greens to oranges to burgundy. I seek out alot of shade loving plants to try and make these shady woods prettier.
I haven;t a clue if you mulch heavily if they can stay in the ground....maybe gardengrower can answer that for us? hint, hin gardengrower. I have heard of coral bells...I'm going to google them in a minute, because if all my calladium is going dormant over winter I want something in that corner. Like I said--I have only recently discovered hostas...if you have any more shade plant suggestions I'm always open to them. I actially have calla lillies out front but they are in full Florida sun and loving life......thanks for any suggestions!
Just google the name-then hit the button that says images-to get a look see-Or ebay them and see what they have to offer and the prices-you could make money off plants if you desired! I like the unusual elephant ears too. The ones that are black with vivid veins going thru them.
I looked them up...they're okay...I'm not sure I would go out of my way to get them...they remind me too much of Arizona plants that I grew up with. Am now much more into the tropical plants. Thanks.
