this item is "new" (out of package). when i recieved this toy the package was damaged, and i was not sure of the toy and what it's function was. it turns out the toy works fine and is a very simple play, you push down and it hides in the cup cake,push it again and it pops back up, great for a little one, the hat does come on and off, there seems to be different ones to collect. it is about 2" wide and around4" high when it is popped up. i was not able to put it back in the damaged package, so i will ship it in a plastic bag. sorry i was going to send the package with it,but my wife clean off the table, and though it away.after that, in the trash, you would not want the package.
