I think he is referring to the IO shield. The shield that snaps into the case, and fits perfectly over the connections on the back of the motherboard. This way when you put the motherboard into the case, it is closes off the case, leaving dust and bugs out of the case.

Could you look around for the back I/O shield. Motherboards are always shipped with the I/O shield. If it came out of an existing system the I/O shield should have been there.

As i was saying I've bought multiple mbs. Never have they come with this so called back plate. Hence my not understanding what it could be your looking for. I've never seen them on any PCs. I seen multiple dozens of PCs. Never any backplate. I'm not saying they don't exist, just they can't be very common as I've never seen one. Sorry

The I/O shield fits around the ports (Ps2,mouse,USB,audio,cat5) in the back of the MB and sits flush against the case on the inside of the case. It is specific to each motherboard model and comes with bare motherboards. Without it you are going to have a ragged looking and partially open back case. Here is a review for this board showing the included i/o shield in the accessories included with board.

Oh now I see what your referring to. You mean the small plate where the various inputs etc are. I will look I may have it. Its not on the back of the MB its on the back of the PC.
