Description

The listing, Coleus Clippings has ended.

The winner will receive three cuttings of my coleus plant (pictured). I don't know exactly what type it is, as I grew the Mother plant from seed, from the Rainbow collection.
Coleus plants make wonderful, easy to grow houseplants, and are very easy to propagate in water.
I will send the clippings wrapped in wet paper towels, plastic wrap, then news paper.
If you have any questions, please ask.
Thanks for looking!

do these come back every year?

I grow mine as houseplants. If you want to grow them outside, but have them come back each year, you'll have to winter them inside. Just dig them up in the fall, grow them indoors all winter, and put them back outside in the spring.

I'm sorry if I didn't answer quickly enough, but I have a home to run, a small farm, garden, children, grandchildren, and two businesses to run, and I only get on Listia once a day.

Can you tell me the process that you took to grow it from seed?

I always make my starter pots out of newspaper, so when the plants are ready to be put in their own pots, there is no transplant shock. I fill the pots with an all purpose potting soil, put one of the VERY small seeds in each pot, barely cover it, then put the pots on a tray, so that they can be watered from the bottom. I put them in a sunny window, and wait..... and wait!! Coleus seeds can be kind of hard to germinate! I have planted about 20 of these this way, and have gotten about 6 plants to make it to the size of my Mother plant in the picture. It can be a pain, but once the plant starts growing, it is REALLY worth the effort! Good luck if you try it : )
