Hi, I'm new to this site. If we win an auction, do we pay for the shipping of the stuff? Or if we create an auction, do we have to pay for the shipping to whoever bids the highest?
Candice, every auction should indicate whether the item will ship for free or for a fee. When selling, you may charge to ship an item, but it does negatively effect the number and value of bids you'll receive, since people will have to pay you money and trust that you will ship the item. Obviously when you're new to Listia, that is harder to do. Listia really is a community-based auction system, with people commenting on and recommending auctions, encouraging and yes, sometimes criticizing. There are nice sellers and buyers and not so nice sellers and buyers, and the feedback system helps to determine who is who. If you want more information, check out the rules page at http://www.listia.com/rules. I suggest starting out slowly by auctioning something you already own. Choose something you know is relatively desireable but not too heavy, so shipping won't be too much. If you are able, pay for shipping for a few auctions to prove you're trustworthy, but if you can't afford it, try to keep the amount as low as possible. Be patient--the more good auctions you've had, the more people will trust you and be more likely to bid higher.
Thank you. This is all extra school supplies my son won't use, so I'm hoping that it will help out some Listian with their kids' back to school needs. :)
F&W...could use this for my niece & nephew...trying to help my sister out with their school supplies...4got how much the kids need. Thanks so much for a awesome auction....you will be rewarded for your kindness someday when you need something.....Good luck to all who are bidding.....
If my son would use it for school, I'd hold on to it, but we've gotten his supplies down to a science now. At the end of the year, he donated the half dozen notebooks and folders that sat in his locker all year--no point in keeping them.
