The AirPort Express can be used anywhere that there is a power outlet. This wireless transmitter allows you to create you own wireless internet and share it with up to 10 other computers anywhere you are connected to the internet! When you are connected to the internet just hook your computer up to the base station. From here you can control all of the options (administrator). From here people can now connect to your internet wireless, and of course free! This item also allow you to hook up usb items and even speakers! Able to be controlled by the admin or anyone connected to the WI-FI if the admin allows it.

Extra features:
This item also allows you to extend and speed up WI-FI. If your wireless internet only reaches half your house with fast speed then you can set up this in the other end of the house which then connects to your WI-FI and transmits it through out the other end of the house. This also speeds up wireless internet drastically.

You can take this with you on trips and use it so long as theres Electric?? Is that what your sayin? Is there an "Air Fee" with a company to use this?? and can you hook this up to laptop that has a wifi card built in? Would appreciate the answers. Fanned ya.

Im not quite sure what you meant by that but above in the description i i was confusing I meant to bring this point out. This doesn't actually create wifi it allows you to take your internet from lan lines or from wifi of any other router and create your own sharing network with blazing speeds. It is also used or home stereos systems because it allows you to plug in different objects into the ports and control them wirelessly from you computer.

I just looked into it and yes this can produce wifi but it is a monthly fee.

$100 list price is for the 802.11n AirPort Epress and from the box and 54mb speed that look like an older 802.11g model that sells on ebay for around $40 (apple no longer sells it)
