Here is a good condition Buffalo Nickel. These are getting hard to find.Finding last century's United States buffalo nickels with dates on them can be hard to do, because the date was a high point on the coin that easily wore off. This coin has a readable date - condition is good or better circulated condition. Each old coin features a buffalo (American Bison) design on one side and an Indian head design on the other.FREE SHIPPING!!!

The first year of mintage was 1913, when two coin varieties were produced. The first design showed the bison (Buffalo) on a slight mound of earth or raised ground. Seems that the words underneath the mound saying "five cents" were high points on the coins and were wearing off very easily. This early (mound type) of nickel is referred to as the Type 1 Buffalo nickel, or Variety I.
Later in the year (1913) the United States government halted nickel coin production and retooled the design. The new design had the buffalo on a flat piece of ground with the words 5 cents somewhat recessed, so that the coins could withstand more wear while in circulation. This revised design is often called the Type 2 (or Variety 2). All nickels made from then on were of the Type II variety.
