Also, has the shell been stored folded in 2 or 3s? 3s will damage it, making it not fit the base the right way.

Sorry it does not come with a dustcover, and it's been stored folded in 2. I received the purse as a gift and don't use it very much, I've only used this shell once or twice. :-)
