Questions & Comments
to make sure the chicken lice is gone, I raised chickens and turkeys most of my life and I was wondering how you got the chicken lice out of them. sorry I am a farm girl
Well I just pick them up Off the ground after they fall out Then put in a cardboard box in my shed Then I mail them in a ziplock bag I have never found anything on them I have mailed them and duck feathers for a few years now and never had any complaints or problems I don't have a farm or anything My chickens are my pets and I just have them for egg laying:)) I do not eat them -they are pets. I got 2 blue eggs yesterday:))) my chickens are spoiled rotten and are very friendly. I hold them and they love being petted and they also ride around with me on my golfcart. They all have names and they even ride on my dogs back. I can sit for hours and just watch them and laugh!!!
That is so awesome. I have wanted chickens all my life. We have just recently moved to where I can have them. I was wondering if you had any advice for someone wanting to get started?
I checked on internet an with my neighbor who raised chickens her whole life and both said. The mites come from unsanitary coops. I clean my coupe weekly. Plus I let me chickens run free all day. They only go in their coupe at night to sleep. And their coupe is opened up all day to get fresh air. I checked all my chickens last night and no mites found. Mites are normally found in large mass produced facilities. I only have 5 and they are kept in a very clean environment. Hope this answers your question
Kool I was just asking I wanted to let you know you can frezze the feathers to kill mites and such. OH have you hipitized your chickens yet?? just rub from beak to comb and they will stay like that for a few minutes, you can pick them up off your lap and lay them down it was fun when I was a child. and I never ment you didn't keep your coup cleand we can see in the pictures that you keep it clean enought for a person to live in I am sure
I put all my wild feathers in a rubber made container & add Indian Tobacco & Sage . Never had a problem Ive also been told to put them in the microwave for about 15 sic.
The little tiny feathers? I think I do have some of them. I think I still have some little tiny white duck feathers!! I will look and let unknow how many I have
I have had chickens for all of my life and I am not young. Looking at those chickens I can tell you that they do NOT have lice! They do NOT have mites! or any other bugs either!
Yes you have to have them well protected in a secure coupe. I let mine roam around the yard but only when I am outside with them. I had an owl swoop down and get one before. It is sad mine are like pets
Thank you:)) I am getting some silkies this weekend. They are gorgeous. They are 4 days old. I am so excited. I have been wanting some silkies for a while
