The listing, VINTAGE HAND BEADED BRACELET has ended.
i've been dragging this around since the 70's.don't remember where i got it,probably from a folk festival some where in jersey.it's woven with bronzed seed beads with irridescent white seed beads with black accents.it measures about 7" and has an attractive bead and loop closure made of the same seed beads.all listia rules apply
Yeah,i'm from the american bandstand era.i remebre exactly where i was when jfk was killed.i was watching tv when jack ruby shot oswald.rfk, martin luther king jr.,malcom x.the million man march, the march on selma."i have a dream speech.first man on the moon, lord.saw it all first hand at the timeprobably the best time was the "hippie"years."hair" was the best musical ever." the slogan what if they gave a war and nobody came was a big one for the time.i guess everything you've read about in history class i lived thru and yeah it was really interesting:)
That must have been nuts! I like to pay Attention to the small things in life that have evolved as i have gotten older ways of life people technology and especially art mainly so one day i can blow my grandchildrens minds lol but how amazing of a life you have lived!
I think the biggest thing that i didn't mention was women' lib.when i was growing up all women could do is get married amd have kids.you graduated high school.got a job at the five and dime or something like that and tried to find a husband.some, got to go to college but were expected to graduate with an engagement ring on her finger.there was nothing else.the bra burnings were always well publicized, the media usually missing the symbolism of the act.there's a song from that period,"hey, little girl" where the fellow is actually saying if you're not all done up with make up,hair done etc.hubby may wander and it'll be your fault because you had your hair in curlers.that about sums up the level of what women had before betty friedan and the rest of the libbers.it was all and always fascinating and i sometimes wonder if anything like those eras will ever come again.
I hope there will! There are allot of small acts that happen around the world and often go unappreciated r unrealized even though the world has gotten so small with the use of internet and media it often seems like the more important things go unnoticed because they go up against celebrity news stuff like that, however i have faith in the future and this up and coming generation :) peace and love!
i think that there were so many people that were catalysts for needed change that mid century years hold a unique place in history.i would love to see another martin luther king jr,or rosa parks or even malcom x,the kennedys.it's a rare lineup for the centuries.the internet is a great tool but it's a solitary way of communicating and it's anonymity lends itself to a lot of nasty stuff but i do hope you are right.go safely sweetie.sheila
No mam,we left jersey later than we were supposed to and so by the time we crossed the tappan zee and hit the ny thruway it had all turned into that giant parking lot in the sky so we made a youie and wound up in the east village.neither one of us would have survived the whole thing :)
