Questions & Comments
This coin is a Spanish coin of Philip III - 4 Maravedis - 1618. Pirate coin is the more accurate description seeing as the Golden Age of Piracy started in the 1650's; coins like this would have been carried in the strong boxes aboard Spanish ships.
Furthermore, from my best guess from research and the photos provided here; the coin is most likely comprised of brass or a copper alloy. No gold value in the coin, but at the time this coin may have fetched a round or two of ale for any pirate that may have possessed it.
