Description

The listing, GENUINE Malachite "Goddess" Gemstone in Solid Sterling Silver Setting has ended.

GENUINE Tanzanian Malachite Gemstone Pendant in Sterling Silver Setting- Hallmarked .925 Sterling Silver

Beautifully banded, highly polished, green Malachite gemstone mounted in a sterling silver setting which includes a contrasting green genuine Peridot gemstone.

I love the ascending banding on this stone, which was cut this way on purpose.

Length from bail: 40mm or appx. 2 inches
Size of Malachite stone 25mm x 20mm appx 1/2 inch
Peridot: 5mm x 8mm

The unmistakable light and dark vivid bands in this green stone is of course Malachite, one of the most easily recognizable gemstones.

An ancient stone Malachite was admired and worn by the Greek followers of the goddess Venus.

The Romans named it the ‘peacock stone” and dedicated it to the goddess Juno.

The Egyptians goddess Toeris wore a necklace of many beads including Malachite.

The bail and impressive Malachite pendant bezel drop is .925 sterling silver and includes a fine quality, highly desirable “grass green” bezel set Chinese Periodt as well.

Historically mistaken for emerald, the history of Periodt is as equally impressive as Malachite.

Cleopatra was very fond of a green gemstone thought to be emeralds, but thousands of years later these green stones were correctly identified as Periodt, the birthstone of August.

I fondly call Malachite the "Goddess Stone" for it's historical associate with Egyptian, Roman and Greek goddesses.

I am a jewelry designer living and working in Atlanta Ga. I will be listing many new and interesting items from my stash of jewelry, gemstones and findings.

I probably have no hopes, but I bid anyway. Soooo nice! You said you're a designer, do you have a website/page or do custom items? (Out of curiosity).

Yes. I have a local following in Atlanta Ga and sell on my own website where proceeds go to charity and also on ArtFire, Etsy and Facebook. And yes, I LOVE doing custom items.

Thank you for bidding. And I know what you mean, as I've seen things I like just skyrocket out of sight! it is a lovely piece, and actually it is very reasonable (right now) compared to other pieces in/with sterling silver.

The setting in the picture looks gold? And, it looks like there are malachite beads on this chain where the pendent hangs? What are the dimensions of the pendent? How long is the chain? Thanks Carrie

Yes, you are right the first photo looks gold, that's the reflection of the Malachite in the silver with a little help from the camera.

However, this piece as mentioned is Hallmarked (stamped) ,925 STERLING SILVER. You can see it easily in the last photo.

SIZE OF STONE
Length from bail: 40mm or appx. 2 inches
Size of Malachite stone 25mm x 20mm appx 1" long x 1/2" wide
Peridot: 5mm x 8mm

As mentioned previously this auction is for**** THE PENDANT ONLY**** I explain this is the "Why Is This For Sale." comment.

Thanks so much for stopping by Carrie, and your questions!!

There are 29 people watching this auction. I am new to Listia, but have noticed that serious bidding comes close to the auctions end.

I am restating some important information here, because i don't expect people to read through all the past comments.

IMPORTANT INFO============IMPORTANT INFO===========PLEASE READ

WHY IS THIS HERE???

I had a client who has a piece of malachite that she wanted me to design a necklace around.

You see some round malachite stones in the photo. I used these stones for the necklace. They are of extremely high quality (as is the pendant)

I HAD TO USE THESE STONES for HER necklace. So now I have a free pendant, which I could make another necklace out of, but I thought I'd list it here and see what happens.

ALSO...This pendant is NEW and NEVER WORN

IMPORTANT============= IMPORTANT===================== IMPORTANT

IMPORTANT: CUT OF STONE

I want to make sure that everyone knows that the banding (lighter color) is ascending on this stone.

That is that it is on an angel, lower on the left and ascending on the right as you look at it. This was done on purpose.

This information is given in the description, but I have noticed that many times things like this go unnoticed and I want this to be PERFECTLY CLEAR:)

This auction is for the PENDANT ONLY.

The ROUND BEADS in the photo will NEVER be up for auction, because they were used in another necklace that was sold.

Since I thought the few beads showing in the photo could confuse people, I explained a couple of comments back WHY the pendant was being listed. I am new to Listia, but getting better at listing. I have also observed that people are rushed (including myself) and don't always see all the info at first glance.

I am sorry that I have caused confusion, and thank you sincerely for writing:)
