The listing, *Unique* HEIRLOOM ORGANIC - Shishito Peppers - 10 Seeds has ended.
A favorite old Japanese variety which produces 3-inch long, slightly wrinkled fruit that are perfect for making tempura and other traditional recipes. A medium early, small, sweet, thin-walled glossy green pepper. Plant has a spreading habit and produces prolifically.
Seeds are open-pollinated and come from my garden.
Shishitos make an amazing tapas (appetizer):
1pound shishito peppers, preferably with stem intact
Grapeseed oil (or another oil with a high smoke point)
Flaky salt
1lime, cut into wedges
Clean and dry your peppers. Heat oil over medium-high heat in skillet. Add peppers to the pan in one layer; don't crowd. Allow peppers to blister then turn them over to char on the other side. Once they are slightly tender, remove from pan and sprinkle liberally with salt. Add a squeeze of lime if you like and enjoy immediately!
Please note: Pepper seeds are viable when the pepper has fully ripened to red (or in a few cases orange). The "float test" method is not a reliable way to test seed viability. Buyer beware when purchasing pepper seeds of other colors.
