Flowers look like fluffy orchids about 2 inches long. Blooms all summer! I live in California, we get temperatures from as low as 10 degrees F up to 110- usual range is about 30 to 100. Even in an odd year when it snows for several days and looks dead it comes right back! I've only watered this twice since it bloomed in May so the flowers are not as purple as they can be and with more water there are lots more flowers. Can be kept trimmed back as a bush, tree or just wild. This is taller than my one story house and has about a 12 foot spread-trimmed back every year. It is really beautiful!
