I just can't understand that at all. How could they not want to know their grand children. Grand children are a blessing and if your mom knows what it is like to have one she has to love it so why would or how could she do that to her own grand babies. I could not imagine going a week without seeing mine. After 2 or 3 days I start crying and have to see them.

Dunno, I gave up trying to convince her 2 years ago. I have accepted it and a lot of my friends treat them as if they were their niece and nephew.

Oh that is sad! I could not imagine my life without my grand children. They are my world. Luckily I had grand children early too. So, Nana (me) doesn't seem old to them at all. Most people think they are mine which I say Yeah they are mine and just smile. LOL

LOL...I don't like the fact that my mom only wanted to take care of my nephew cuz he was the first born boy between my brother and myself. And my dad had only met my kids once.

You know I have been thinking if she does not want the relationship then it is best there is not one because it would just do harm. Friends are like family so, to them, they aren't what they consider friends they probably consider them their aunt's and uncle's and that is great that you have friends that would be glad to be their aunt and uncle. They are better off with love that is natural instead of forced.

Yes it is. For now, they refer to my friends as Mr. and Miss, as it's easier for them to say. But as they get older, they'll address them as aunt and uncle. That's why I refuse to move back to CA cuz I don't want to be anywhere near her.

She just turned 4 months old and I try to keep everything I need at my house so, mommy will not have to pack anything for her when she comes over. I figure, the easier you make it on mom and dad the more they can come over. I have 2 other grand children boy age 5 girl age 4 and I love them so much. It is so strange the love you have for your grandchildren and how protective you are of them. I love having my grand babies over all the time.

I don't really do stuff like that. I try to make everything neutral when it comes to fixing up diaper bag with goodies and this is my first one. I do have baby girl and boy clothes up for auctions, but other than that, nothing else is gender specific.

If you do not want to live anywhere near her it must be really bad. Do you even speak with her on the telephone?

I haven't talked to her for about 4 months now. She physically abused me til I was 25 and still emotionally abuse me to this day. Therefore, why I quit talking to her and she's even talking bad about my family to my relatives.

I really hate that for you and your children because a mother is not supposed to be that way. I could not imagine ever not wanting to be near my children or grand children. You know, she will have to answer to this one day and it is her loss.

That is horrible! abuse until 25 and emotional abuse as well, You know you really over came some really bad situations and came out to be a very sweet person that loves her children and I do not blame you one bit for not speaking with her. If she talks bad about you to your relatives I would ask them not to even let you know what she says because that is only doing more damage and you have to get past this. I would ask one of my relatives to get your instruments from her and then you can get it from them. Honey, you need to be done now!! You are to sweet and special to be treated like that by anyone!!! Do not listen to what she says anymore because I am sure you say you do not care but, deep down it will bother you for years. Just get your belongings through someone else and call it quits, she does not deserve the honor of hearing your voice or even a minute of your time.

Thank you hun...I've been trying. I do know that once I get out of the Army, I will take a trip out there to get the rest of my stuff and leave for good. One of my best friend is trying to get them for me, but my mom has been ignoring her calls. But because of this, I've been seeing a therapist to get through this. It's been hard, but it's working.

You will get through this because you are a strong person and a great mom and you may not understand your mom, or why she is the way she is but, that has nothing to do with who you are and the great mom you are. I just wish you wouldn't have to go back to pick up your things, is there someone else that could do it? It would be best if you just didn't even see her because you are working in therapy and I would hate for her to ruin what you have been doing for a while in

She wouldn't let anyone come near those instruments, unless it was me. I'll do it, but won't be taking my kids. I have friends here that will watch them for me, if I had to go back to CA. My own brother wouldn't help me cuz he blames me for causing this rift. It is what it is, but yet he still wants me to buy stuff for him and his kids, but he doesn't do anything for myself or my kids.
Jun 25th, 2011 at 10:30:33 PM PDT by

sorry, In 1 day and it sounds as if she could ruin a lot in just a few minutes. So please try to find someone else to get your things. Someone she wouldn't suspect they were calling for your stuff or going by there for your things, I just don't want you to go. Please try no to,,,,,,ok?

I've been trying to get a hold of my father, but he's been working so much and out of the country that I haven't been able to get a hold of him or that he hasn't been able to get back with me. The problem is that my instruments aren't small...I have a mellophone, alto sax, violin, and a piano.

Sweetie, get your things and like you said do not take your children over there. She has not deserved the honor of meeting such beautiful children. Why would she even want you to come to her house to verbally abuse you? I would have 911 pressed on my phone when I went in and if she starts just press the button to send because if she thought you were calling the cops she would jerk it out of your hands. As far as your brother, I would let him expect all he wanted but I would not send anything at all. If he starts arguing with you about it let him know that giving goes both ways and you are tired of your children being ignored by the family but, also tell him it is fine because you have friends that have been happy to do what he should be dong. When are you going to be able to get it?
