Lions Dagga, provides beautiful flower whirls of orange trumpet like petals,which provide an attraction for humming birds, and when dried ton of seeds. Many will drop to reseed into new flowers. Tall flowering plants which look great planted in clusters, or as a backdrop in flower beds. Grows easily from seeds planted where you desire them to grow. Keep ground moist till established. Cover lightly with soil. After established water regularly. Once pod is brown cut and shake loose seeds in paper bag.
Auction also includes Persian White Somniferium Poppy & Dutch Blue Somniferium Poppy one baggie of each ( about three teaspoons worth) each.
Poppys grown by scattering on good soil right where you want them to come up. Tamper in, an keep moist till sprouts. Once sprouts appear thin out to about six inches apart. Can be gently spoon-transplanted with wet soil when sprouts are 1-2" by placing spoon under sprout, and simply setting in prepared hole, then gently tampering in. Better to do after watering. Poppys can get rather tall, at 3 feet or more, some wont. I had various outcomes with these seeds. Some that were tall with three or more blossoms, and were gigantieums in size, others that had some really gorgeous flower colors. However, the Persian white is typical its only variance is usually the flower shape, white with smooth edges, or shagged edged. Still gorgeous. Recommend compost tea for fertilizing and not until flowers are established.
