Another PENGUIN LOVER!!!! FYI, I used to be a zookeeper and I used to work with African and Humboldt Penguins, 2 species that are considered warm weather penguins!! This would be an awesome gift for your son!! I wish you the best of luck!!! ALREADY A FAN!!!!!!

My son would just dye to be able to be that close up to penguins he is 16 he reserches them on line and says one day he hopes to be able to walk among them. I have taken him to many zoos to see them must be great to work with them.

If your son is interest in pursuing a career in animal studies or zookeeping, I would suggest that he volunteer at your local zoo or aquarium if possible. Most zoos have an education department and a Chlldrens Zoo which often accepts volunteers, which would expose him to the zoo atmosphere and to meet people in all different departments of the zoo. You would have to contact the zoo to find out what age he has to be to volunteer. Unfortunately, I don't think that he would get the opportunity to work directly with penguins, but it would definitely give him great experience, which looks great on college applications! If he has any specific questions, I would be more than happy to give him all the inside info on working with penguins. Just send me a private message and I can give you my email address if he is interested. Penguins are particularly interesting animals with strong personalities! I would love to tell your son all about them!!

That is so kind of you. He does love penguins and I really thought he might lean that way in career of choice but floored me when he told be he is interested in becoming a Spanish interpreter language has always been his other passion so he hopes to major in that and minor in linguist . Also the closest zoo to us is close to 2 1/2 hours a way in Des Moines Iowa but I believe it is a small zoo. I have taken him to Minnesota to there zoos and also some back east in Mass I will let you know though if he ever changes his choice of careers though still watching and will be bidding
