It turns on the led lights but doesnt display im very good with computers and to my understanding its because of the motherbord

No that may not be the motherboard. Could be the monitor inverter

Hook it to a desktop monitor and if comes on it the inverter. I am professional computer tech for 20 years

Easyiest way to check is to hook an external monitor to it and if that lights then its the lcd and not the board if it doesnt then its the board and most times a reflow will fix the board
