**Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Awareness!**

Become aware of this rare genetic disorder that can affect everything in the body! EDS is a connective tissue disorder that affects collagen production. Hypermobility ('double-jointedness', super-flexibility, etc) is the main symptom, and often causes recurring dislocations and severe pain. If you think of collagen as the "glue" that holds us all together, those of us with EDS have glue that isn't "sticky" enough, or strong enough. There are other, varied symptoms of EDS, ranging in severity from "mild" to "life-threatening".

The EDS population has adopted the Zebra as their mascot/awareness design, based on the saying in the medical world, "If you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras." This phrase was to help aspiring doctors to focus on more "common" causes for disorders/disease, and only look for more rare ones when or if there is still no answer. Due to this, many people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome never get properly diagnosed.
