Description

The listing, Apple Mint Divisions has ended.

This is my first listing! Yay! Listing is for live divisions from my mint bed. Apple mint is a wonderful addition to many recipes, makes great jelly and tea flavoring. Dave's Garden lists their hardiness Zone 5a - 9b. We are in 6a and they thrive. They can become invasive if you don't watch them. I line the back of the house with a bed and when we mow, it smells delightful. Free shipping in US. Thanks for looking!

I wouldn't say that it has a strong apple scent or taste to it. It is definately very minty though. We also have peppermint and spearmint. To me the apple mint is a little sweeter and gives more mint flavor than the others. It doesn't have a "bite" like strong peppermint.

I also have chocolate mint and cologne mint (both unusual), they aren't established enough for me to send a lot, but I will send a few runners of those too so you can try different kinds if you are interested.

I would love to have any of the varieties you have I love fresh mint. How will you be shipping it? How much can I get, I have friends that would love some?

Flat rate priority mail small box. I was intending to pack the root sections with vermiculite and wrap with plastic wrap so they would stay moist. The box is 8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8", so what would fit without packing it so tightly they would be damaged. Mint propogates very quickly. Even if you didn't feel you had enough to share, if it establishes well, you should have runners within a few weeks that you could cut off. They would be smaller, but enough to get your friends started.

Hi! I bid and fanned you. I'm from Harrisburg, AR but not sure if that's in the same area as you. We haven't lived in AR very long and are still getting to know the area. Good luck with your auction!

We are in the Northwest corner of the state (about 2 hours from Harrison), it should grow very well in your area. Welcome to AR! I have lived here for about 17 years and absolutely love it! Fanning you back.

I will send enough to get you started. They are perennials, so even if you don't have a ton by the end of summer, next year it should be flourishing.

We bought the chocolate mint from a nursery this year, so I don't have a "bed" of it yet, but I've been able to fill about 30 sf of area from the single apple mint that I planted two years ago. From what I understand, the chocolate is just as hardy. The chocolate is established enough that I can send some rooted runners, it will just need to be kept potted or weed free long enough to get established. Thank you, everyone for bidding!

Mints are awesome. I've read the chocolate is great for baking with, but I haven't tried it yet. Mint chocolate chip cookies on the horizon.....

I was happy to find the chocolate and cologne at the nursery this year. I am not sure how the cologne will do in recipes (because it does have a perfume-like scent), but I am going to try to do something like sachets or potpourri with it. I remember mint from my childhood too, but we lived in Pennsylvania. I have no idea what kind it was.... but it didn't seem to spread as pervasively up there. Thank you for bidding! Good luck on it!

I love how well they grow, my goal is to edge every building and fence on the property. I hate weed wacking and because they are so hardy, you can mow right up to them and not worry about it. I would much rather have mint than johnson grass at every fence post. Plus, they are tasty! Fanned you back - thank you for bidding!
