This auction is for 4' of (80/20) ( "Sterling Filled") wire!
"Sterling Filled" is an "OXYMORON" or a name that is opposite of what it really is!

Silver Filled wire is 20% sterling silver wire with a base metal core in the center. It is made with a copper (or sometimes white brass) core center to give it strength and firmness when work hardened.
I offer this SF wire for this ring project because pure Sterling Silver is VERY SOFT and even when it is work hardened, it does not form the strongest and most stable ring bases. (without the base core)

This wire is dead soft, and A Beautiful, soft, real silver color- see photo.

Hope you don't mind me asking but can you still tap a ring out with a hammer gently on a plastic mandrel like you can on a metal mandrel? I am a bit of a newbie. Thanks. Your auction is absolutely AMAZING and a steal!

Hi there- boy you are sneaking in emails in all different ways- aren't you? LOL I welcome any & all questions about jewelry making- if I have time to answer them all!
Yes, tapping a hardened plastic mandrel will not break it- but just remember it is just plastic, and you will need to tap a lot longer! :0) I would not worry about hammering a ring, if you are not very good at wire wrapping one yet. Making jewelry- especially with wire is a process- one baby step at a time. You will need to learn to "tame" wire before you can successfully hammer it with an acceptable pattern. It looks a lot easier than it is. I will add a necklace pic to this auction, if it will let me- to show you what you should be able to do before you even wrap a ring! LOL

Hard plastic. Material they are made of (wood would splinter) is steel, and they not only cost about $20. plus, can you imagine shipping it for free? LOL This kit will give you the sample ring I make you, and 4 other rings to auction or sell, (total 5!!!) then you still have the tool and the directions! I have sold these rings for $12. to $15. each and have received as much as 5000 credits apiece for them on Listia. Please look at the credits they are asking for other items on here, lately- most give you much less than this kit ....before you decide. was on Listia when 1 sterling ring (3 yrs ago) went for 1500 credits! LOL but no more!
