Most poppies are very easy to grow. They are a favorite of gardeners for rock gardens, flower beds, containers, and most any place that you want color. Start planting in spring March thru May or fall late September thru November. They like the cool weather to germinate, so most will tell you to plant your seeds in the fall or early spring, They can be grown in containers. Poppies like Full Sun. They will germinate in 5-14 days. The flower is a beautiful pink with petal that resemble feathers.
I'm not sure about the refrigerator thing. How about starting them in a container in an air-conditioned room and moving them outside when you're ready? September is not that far away, if you wanted to wait. Sorry that I couldn't be more help.
