Questions & Comments
FYI: Though marketed and sold as a reader, this particular model can be easily unlocked and used like any other Android tablet. [The white version only - the black version, oddly, does not submit to the unlock...] These are not really 'super fast' by todays standards, but are certainly well-suited to simple tasking. I gave an unlocked one away here on Listia a few years back [before falling horribly ill for some time.] You can see that listing in my feedback. It is full of HD photos of the unlocked device [useful here as proof of concept], and may be of some help to someone.
PS - It's good to be sitting upright and relaxing on Listia again!!
wow i didnt even know that but i dont know that much about these things anyway my friend gave it to me cuz she got a new one but i like my laptop better but i appreciate the info and im glad to here you are feeling more like your old self
@patriciapattersonweldon - Thank You, I fanned you back!!
@TeenaMarie83 - Unlocking one of these is pretty easy: 1. Download the file to unlock [Google " Pandigital Novel Firmware" - or "CyanogenMod 6.x SlateDroid" - that appears to be the current best!] 2. Copy the file to any empty SD card [the file is about 300MB.] 3. Put the SD card in the Pandigital. 4. From OFF, hold the 'Volume Up' button and 'Power' button together to boot into the diagnostics screen. Scroll down to Update Firmware. A browser box will open. Navigate to the SD card, and choose the new firmware file. Sit back and relax - the process is fully automated from there, and takes about 5-10 minutes max.
NOTE that this completely wipes the Pandigital software and replaces it with a fully rooted, updated ROM. From there it will run anything that the Android version will accommodate.
