Description
The listing, Barrel Cactus Hedgehog Live Plant w/Roots Winter Hardy from SE Colorado has ended.
Barrel Cactus Hedgehog Live Plant sent with roots. Native to SE Colorado. Usually grow in clusters: you can request one, two, three, four or five in a cluster! And if you have a preference to small or large, also let me know. Email me after you purchase and I should be able to accommodate. They bury themselves in winter and then come back up in spring. They grow new "pups" very quickly, so you'll end up with quite a few of them! See my other cactus I have listed too!
I don't know the zones but from researching them, they grow in a lot of places! Here are some things I found "Echinocereus viridiflorus has several differences from most other hedgehog species; it is very frost tolerant, grows much further north. Central USA, from southeast Wyoming and southwest North Dakota, south to Texas (west and north) and New Mexico. Chihuahuan Desert plains, woodland, grassland, prairie." Recommended Temperature Zone: sunset: 9b-11 USDA: 4-10 Frost Tolerance: Very cold resistant, hardy to -20° F (-28°C) or less, it looks shriveled and dehydrated in winter
Minimum Avg. Temperature: 50°F (10°C)
Sun Exposure: Full sun to light shade
Origin: Northern Mexico, USA (Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, South Dakota, Oklahoma) Growth Habits: Cylidrical dark green stems, solitary or clustering, up to 8 inches tall (20 cm), up to 3 inches wide (7 cm); 13 obtuse ribs; 0 to 3 centrals, up to 0.8 inch long (2 cm); 15 stiff radials, up to 0.4 inch long (1 cm).
