#632 JON WARDEN (RC)
#662 ROYALS ROOKIE STARS: ***** Drago, George Spriggs, Bob Oliver
Notes:
-1969 was the first year of the Kansas City Royals franchise. 1969 Topps baseball features the first licensed Kansas City Royals cards.
-JON WARDEN never played any major league games with the Royals. He was a rookie with the Detroit Tigers in 1968 and posted a 4-1 record with 11 saves in 28 relief appearances. He was selected by the Royals in the expansion draft but never appeared on the major league roster.
-DlCK DRAGO finished 5th in 1971 Cy Young voting with the Royals. He won 108 games for his career while saving another 45.
-One of the Royal;s' earliest stars, BOB OLIVER pounded out 27 home runs and had 99 RBI in 1970, just his second full season in MLB. His son Darren Oliver pitched 20 seasons between 1993-2013, including 10 with the Texas Rangers.
These cards should be considered as filler. Each has an assortment of vintage wear (Corner and edge wear, etc) and would likely grade as "fair" according to the price guides..The Warden card has some rubber band wear.
