Thats the purpose of the wire. Hdmi to the tv, and the MHL to the phone. And the Usb wire goes to a outlet to keep the phone charged.

This is an hdmi cable which splits into 2 wires.. one is A MHL wire and one is usb..

I see that this cable has three ends, one requires an hdmi cord in order to connect to the tv, right? Also, does this gadget charge your device while mirroring from phone to tv?

It is an hdmi that goes into the tv, then the small part (mhl) goes into the phone, then to charge the phone, the other flat wire(usb) gets plugged into the wall (with an adaptor of course). This is a all in one wire!

Hmm, im not sure to be honest. Hdmi in the tv, mhl into the controller and the usb into the computer? Its possible but im not 100% I do not want to say what you want to hear just so you will bid, its a possibility, but not sure.
