Great question, thanks for asking! The necklace has a clasp. The chain is 9.5" long on either side of the pendant (so about 19" long total) and has about 2" of extension chain on it to adjust the length even more. Due to the nature of the chain, you can really adjust it to be as short as you like. Hope that answers your question completely :)
