Frances McCann was lovely, beautiful and one of the most exceptional artists.
She was murdered in the luxurious five-star hotel Bernini Bristol located on Piazza Barberini near the famous Tritone Fountain in the heart of Rome, the Eternal City.

Ok, it is very difficult to read because she wrote all of this across dark areas of the photo in ball point pen, but holding it up to the light, (as that reveals the impressions that her pen made) it appears to say "To Joseph Goelz(?)/ I appreciate you/ Frances McCann
Kate Kim Dukat/ 1950
I have researched her and it appears that she may have played in a theater production of "Rosalinda" and Kate Kim Dukat may have been her character name in that production, but she is mostly known as an opera singer. I also found a magazine ad where she promoted some type of makeup removal. She was murdered in 1963 in a lavish hotel room in Rome purportedly by a love-sick fan. Interesting stuff for sure!

I should say that she wrote "some" of this across dark areas, not "all" of it. The last name of the recipient is hard to make out.
