I've had the same sourdough starter for 6 years - a wild yeast I caught by leaving out a mixture of flour and water. I never had much luck, although I tried dozens of recipes from various sources. A school I worked at had this book and I tried the Sourdough English Muffins recipe, with the same starter I'd always used. They turned out so amazing that I bought the book and have since made pancakes, muffins, and many of the loaves. My loaves turned out BEAUTIFULLY, whereas before they were hard as a rock and dense as concrete. I bought a copy for my mom and she loves it too. I highly recommend this book!
