The top pulls open and you pull the straps/handles to cinch the top closed.

I'm not sure if you mean the weight, brand or color, but it is regular 4-ply yarn and as for the name of the color or brand, I really don't know because I purchased a lot of yarn from a lady who rewound all of her yarn into balls and did not have the labels.
