tigers fans can well remember the former hard hitting outfielder who patrolled left field in the sacred and historical grounds of tiger stadium from 1963-1977. many of us can also recall the missile throw he made from left field to cut down lou brock of the st. louis cardinals at home plate in game 5 of the 1968 world series to which the tigers would go on to win the series. willie clobbered 325 home runs in his career that also included stints with the texas rangers and seattle mariners.
