Description

The listing, 1930s or earlier Boy Scout neckerchief slide has ended.

This is a listing for an antique Boy Scout slide. The reason I believe it is from the 30s or earlier is that it was in a lot of old clothes that I found at a yard sale, all of which dated back to then or earlier. I have a few other Boy Scout things that I may put up on here, depending on how well this one does. It is certainly an awesome piece of work, nice patina. Sorry for the blurry pictures, cell phone photos. This is a link to one from the 60s, you can tell the one I have listed is more of a primitive design as far as the slide on the back. http://www.etsy.com/listing/72167567/1960s-bsa-boy-scout-metal-neckerchief

This may be "vintage" but not from the 1930s. The back is wrong, it should be a solid piece across the backing, not the way it looks in the picture. This design allows for easier placement versus the solid piece of metal that couldn't tighten and would slip off easily. The best picture I could find for you of one from the 1930s was on this website http://mitchreis.com/SaleSlides.HTM Hope the info helps!

eh, ya never know...came with a really old set of boyscout trousers/belt, the other kid clothes were dated from the 30s, not an expert, Ive looked and cannot find this slide design on any of them.

there is a small hole on the inner backing flap, im guessing to put a stich in the neckerchief to hold it in place

all of the slides on that site are a bright gold, and do not show the back...I am not an expert in boyscout memorabilia, or accesories, but this is old, maybe not from the 30s...all i am saying, is that an extremely old box of dusty clothes that hadnt been opened for years, all date back from the 30s...how do i know that? It says so on the tag and I do know clothes, as far as the boyscout slide, it was wrapped up in old tissue paper inside of the pocket of an old hemed up pair of boyscout pants, it is a pewter color, and you can tell it had some red on it at one time or another...but it is at least a few decades old, believe me, or dont bid, simple as that.
