Is the bracelet itself made of silver, or just silver toned metal please?

The package the bracelet came in said silver but I find no markings on it anywhere so to be safe I would say silver toned metal.

If you take a white cotton cloth and rub it on the bracelet, and it leaved a dark mark on the cloth, there is a good chance it is sterling. Also, you can try a magnet on it. If it attracts the magnet, it isn't sterling. It kind of looks like it is a little 'tarnished', and I read somewhere that only silver does that.

Yes, they do discolor and you can clean them. That is why I hadn't questioned when I was told they were sterling silver.
