This is a cheesy little no-brand digital video camera I got for "free" with a large order from Staples.
It works just fine, but you need a lot of light.
Would be an awesome toy for your budding filmmaker!

Less than 4" long!
Can take an SD card. (not included)
Runs on 3 AAA batteries. (not included)
Transfer using standard mini USB cable.

Does this have a built in battery (hence the cable?) or is the cable used for data transfer? Also does it take an SD or micro SD?

It runs on 3 AAA batteries. The cable is for transferring to your computer. The slot takes a regular SD card, or a micro in an adapter. Won't read the really big cards though. (8GB+)
