I can tell, but that is also cool. :) I love older tools and gadgets that aren't just fun to look at, but are also useful. Otherwise, they just collect dust, and I HATE dusting lol.
I would LOVE to find an old fashioned alarm clock, one with the annoying little bell that actually rigs. I have a replica, but it beeps. :/
Oh! I love those. I have one, the ringing kind. But I forget to wind it. I have a wind-up wristwatch, too. Same thing, it's always the wrong time because I don't wind it. But I love it.
/:) and a treadle Singer sewing machine that works. And at the auction gallery where I work, a lady brought in a working victrola yesterday. I love those. I wish I had saved my mom's 1950s wind-up portable record player.
Oooooo, I want an old sewing machine, but I have no room for one, until the other 'adult' child moves out lol. ;) I see them on Craigslist free all.the.time, but have to pass on every one. Oh, there was a gorgeous white piano I wanted so bad too, but again, no room.
I really for some reason want a pocket watch, an old one, one that works. Some day.
Your clock and wrist watch sound cool. And your job sounds way cool! :)
Pianos are a fascinating thing. At the auction, a $25 bid on a piano is a coup -- they do not re-sell in second hand shops with enough profit to cover the moving fees, much less tuning. You know what's looking up lately -- roll top desks. They had taken a dive but are getting better, higher bids just lately.
